A cloud covered island of the Tiste Andii, thick with cedar, fir and redwood grown up through the ruins of a massive dead city.
Drift Avalii is an island of the Tiste Andii, named in Deadhouse Gates. Heavy cloud sits over it, and under that cover the land runs thick with cedar, fir and redwood, a gloomy and near impenetrable forest.
The forest has grown up through ruins. A massive dead city lies beneath it, its huge buildings still there among the trees. In the days of the Quon kingdoms a single vessel, the Silanda, held the sanction to trade with the island, and much of that ship's timber came from its trees. Since the Emperor's forces overran Quon, nobody living has visited the place, and what Malazans say about the Andii there is hearsay.
