A higher order of shapeshifter than the Soletaken, taking many creature forms at once rather than one.
D'ivers is the name for a higher order of shapeshifter than the Soletaken. Where a Soletaken shifts between one human shape and one beast, a D'ivers shifts into many creatures at once, a pack or a swarm holding a single mind. The change carries a sharp, spicy scent that anyone standing near can smell.
Teeth and claws of a D'ivers spread a virulent infection. Most who take such wounds suffer hallucinations, madness and death, and the few who survive can expect bouts of insanity several times a year for the rest of their lives. Soletaken, D'ivers and T'lan Imass share some old kinship that none of the three explains to outsiders.
