Dessembrae
The Lord of Tragedy, also called the Lord of Tears, a god whose cult holds the god male and his grief female, and whose name Malazan soldiers use for oaths and for warding alike.
Worshippers call him the Lord of Tragedy, or else the Lord of Tears. Dessembrae is a god whose cult holds the god himself to be male and his grief to be female, and whose adherents swear by him in the ordinary way of soldiers, with a Dessembrae be praised or a Dessembrae fend. Imperial Historian Duiker traced the cult back to a time when such cults were common among the soldiers of the Malaz 1st Army under Emperor Kellanved. Older writing places him in stranger company: in one of Mammot's books, read by Kruppe in Darujhistan, Dessembrae stands with Hood, the grey wanderer of Death, among the entities present at a Chaining of the Crippled God, and it was on that occasion that he shattered the bonds Hood held upon him.
