Dal Honese

The Dal Honese are the peoples of the Dal Hon Plains and the Forest Horn jungle in the south of Quon Tali, made up of many tribes and described as onyx-skinned, those of the northern savannah tending to be taller and more willowy than those of the southern jungle. The Dal Hon league of kingdoms stood apart from the Malazan Empire until two generations before Gardens of the Moon, and its reliance on gifted individual warriors proved no match for coordinated Malazan discipline, a defeat the Dal Honese themselves put down to poor generalship. Their adults claim the right of wandering, leaving their tribes to see the world and their children to the care of extended kin, shamans and shoulder-witches. Their four sacred weapons are the bola, the kout, the hook-scythe and the rock, and a warrior courting a woman polishes and carves the femurs of his enemies to set before her family's threshold.
