Crone
Matriarch of the Great Ravens of Moon's Spawn and Anomander Rake's messenger, ancient, chip-beaked and sharp-eyed, and deeply insulted by anyone who treats her as merely a bird.
Crone is the matriarch of the Great Ravens who roost within Moon's Spawn, and she serves Anomander Rake as messenger and as his intermediary with Baruk, the High Alchemist of Darujhistan, being powerful enough to pass through that man's wards uninvited. Her eyes are glittering black, her enormous wings oily and mangy-looking, her beak chipped, and her sight is unnaturally keen at great distances. When something amuses her she opens her beak in a silent laugh. She thinks often of her thousands of years and the wisdom they have earned her, and rather more often of food. She is loyal to Rake and to the warlord Caladan Brood, treating both almost as equals, and she takes deep offence at anyone who mistakes her for a mere bird.
