Cotillion, the Rope, is the Patron of Assassins of High House Shadow and the companion of Ammanas, a shadow-veiled god who moves against Empress Laseen and the Empire she rules.
On a road in Itko Kan he and Ammanas argue over a fishergirl who has heard their names, and Cotillion refuses to kill her or her father, choosing to claim her and to name her himself. In Tattersail's reading of the Deck of Dragons the Rope appears as a master of deception whose games run subtler than Shadowthrone's. Kalam finds House Shadow's obsession with the Malazan Empire odd.
How far into Malazan have you read?
