Caladan Brood
Caladan Brood was a Barghast warlord of immense age and power, who led a coalition of Tiste Andii, Crimson Guard, Rhivi, and Free Cities soldiers against the Malazan Empire's conquest of Genabackis, and carried at his back a hammer said to be capable of shattering mountains.
Caladan Brood's name is familiar to Calot, who swears he has heard it somewhere before. To Tattersail it has an old ring, like something out of ancient legend or an epic poem.
High Fist Dujek grants that whoever Brood is, he has shown himself adept at making the Malazans pay for their mistakes. Word reaching the alchemist Baruk calls Brood a savage beast of a man.
