Blackdog Forest
A wolf-haunted forest of Genabackis where the Malaz 5th Army spent four years of swamp and mud against Caladan Brood's Host, the Crimson Guard and the Mott Irregulars.
Timber wolves live in Blackdog Forest, on Genabackis, and for at least four years the Malaz 5th Army lived there too, campaigning against Caladan Brood's Host and the Crimson Guard. The Ilgres Barghast were among those who threw in with the Guard at Blackdog. Kalam remembered the campaign as a war waged against mosquitos, leeches, poisonous snakes and blood-sucking lizards as much as against any organised enemy: black spruce stands, vast swamps, mud, lagoons and bogs, and on the other side the Mott Irregulars, the Crimson Guard and the Nathii First Army. Weeks of slogging through the wet left the Bridgeburners with their skin hanging off in discoloured strips, and the campaign hollowed and numbed them in ways that outlasted the fighting.
