Eldest of the three High Mages of the Army of the Whirlwind, a withered old man with filmy eyes, feared through the Raraku oasis for the girls he takes and the mutilation he inflicts on them.
Ancient and withered, with filmy eyes and a habit of overestimating his own subtlety, Bidithal is the eldest of the three High Mages who serve the Whirlwind in the Holy Desert of Raraku. He is known through the oasis for stealing young girls and cutting them, a mutilation he explains as protection against distraction and appetite; the seer Sha'ik carried the same wound from her own childhood at his hands. When Felisin Paran comes to the heart of Raraku to take up the name of Sha'ik Reborn, Bidithal is one of three who meet her there, alongside the High Mages Febryl and L'oric, and like them he is made to kneel before her. In his reading of the Whirlwind's faith there is no place for pleasure in the mortal world, and the girls he takes are kept about him as servants.
