Barghast

The Barghast are a tribal warrior people of the Malazan world, whose clans fight in the wars for Genabackis. They are larger and more robust than most humans, organized into clans under warchiefs and guided by shamans, and they hold themselves apart from the settled peoples around them, keeping their own spirits, feuds, and codes. Warriors braid their hair, paint themselves for battle, and prize single combat and the trophies of raids; their encampments follow the herds and the wars across the continent's plains and ranges. The Ilgres clan takes the field against the Malazans in the Genabackan campaign, while one of their own, the warrior Trotts, marches among the empire's Bridgeburners.
