Barathol Mekhar is the blacksmith of a hamlet of eighteen souls in the Sialk Odhan of Seven Cities. The hamlet sits at a crossroads of the Tapur Road and a trail into the Path'apur Mountains, three days north of Ahol Tapur. He is the only resident not born there, he has lived among them eleven years, and in all that time he has said very little about anything.
He is a huge man with skin almost onyx black, dark eyes, and curling scarification on his cheeks that looks military in origin. His hands and forearms carry puckered blade cuts. A locked trunk in the smithy holds a round shield, a grille faced helm, chain mail, iron scaled gauntlets and a heavy double bladed axe, none of it the gear of a village smith.
