Assail is a continent, and when a god praises his choice of fighters, Bugg needs only to say that the squad managed to escape it.
On Assail the T'lan Imass fight a war they cannot win. Lanas Tog, the last of the Kerluhm, carries word that eight months of battle there cost her clan and the Ifayle tens of thousands, and that the foe is human, not Jaghut. Iron Bars, an Avowed, and his squad claw their way out of Assail and wash up in Lether owing money from the moment they land.
