Andarist

Andarist is a Tiste Andii and the younger brother of Anomander Rake. Unlike his brother he is no Soletaken dragon, and so, though long-lived, he ages: he appears as an extremely tall and ancient man, his long white hair dishevelled, his skin black as ebony, his amber eyes bright enough to give off light. The heat radiating from him shrivels plants nearby. He has long since surrendered himself to a grief that cannot heal, and he carries himself like an absent-minded scholar wearing a perpetual look of confusion, which hides what he is. He fights with a huge double-handed sword and wears silver chain armour that has seen centuries of use. He speaks very good Malazan, haltingly, as a man who rarely has cause for the words, and he wrote a treatise titled Combat and Negotiation.
