White Tree of Gondor
The sign of Gondor, grown in the Court of the Fountain at Minas Tirith and set on the realm's banner.
The White Tree is the sign of Gondor, set on the realm's banner and grown in the Court of the Fountain at Minas Tirith. It is tall and open in form, with white bark over white wood and laurel-shaped leaves that are dark green above and bright silver beneath; in spring it carries a great many white flowers, though few of them ever set fruit. Its line runs back to Telperion, elder of the Two Trees of Valinor. The Elves of Tirion were given Galathilion, made in Telperion's image; a seedling of it went to Tol Eressea as Celeborn; and from Celeborn came Nimloth, which grew in Numenor.
