West Beleriand
All Beleriand west of the river Sirion was West Beleriand, a mild country of hills, plains, and woods that held Arvernien, Brethil, the Falas, and the guarded plain of Talath Dirnen.
The river Sirion divided Beleriand in two, and all that lay west of it was West Beleriand, a country of hills, lowlands, plains, and scattered woodlands, with denser forest in Brethil and moorland near it at the Moors of the Nibin-Noeg. Its climate was mostly mild and humid save where the cold of the north reached down through the mountain gaps. Among its lands and realms were Arvernien by the sea, the Forest of Brethil, the Havens of the Falas, and the guarded plain of Talath Dirnen, and both Sindar and Noldor dwelt and ruled there.
