Walls of Moria
Great cliffs at the western feet of the Misty Mountains formed the Walls of Moria, in whose stone the hidden Doors of Durin were set, facing the old Elven-way from Eregion.
At the western feet of the Misty Mountains stood the Walls of Moria, great cliffs forming the rugged, rocky base of the range, past which lay the interior of the realm of Khazad-dum. Below them the Doors of Durin were built upon the surface of the stone, crafted so skillfully that when shut they could not be told from the surrounding rock. Before the Walls a shallow valley rose gently westward, leading to a low cliff and then to the Elven-way that ran between the Stair Falls and the ancient land of Eregion.
