Valinor

West of Middle-earth, across the whole width of the Great Sea, lies the land at the far horizon. Valinor is the realm of the Valar in the continent of Aman: the Blessed Realm, fenced by the mountains of the Pelóri, where the Powers of the world make their home. Within it stand the mansions of the Valar and the city of Valmar, and in its gardens and woods dwell many of the Eldar, the Elves who answered the summons into the West. It is a presence rather than a destination on any map, remembered in Elvish song as part of the Undying Lands. To the peoples of Middle-earth it stands at the boundary of knowledge, the far country of the Elven-lords and the Valar, beyond the reach of mortal ships.
