The twenty-fourth Ruling Steward of Gondor was a son of Túrin II.
Turgon was the twenty-fourth Ruling Steward of Gondor, born in the year 2855 of the Third Age, the son of Túrin II. He came to the office when his father died in 2914 and held it for thirty-nine years. His rule was a long stretch of low grade warfare with almost nothing in it the chroniclers thought worth setting down, until the very end. Two years before Turgon's death the Dark Lord declared himself openly, took Mordor again, and set about rebuilding and refortifying Barad-dûr. His son Ecthelion II followed him as Steward.
