King of Durin's Folk and King under the Mountain, son of Thráin I. In TA 2210 he left the Lonely Mountain for the Ered Mithrin with most of his people and the Arkenstone, and his son Glóin ruled after him.
Thorin I was King of Durin's Folk and King under the Mountain, the son of Thráin I and his successor. In TA 2210 word reached him of greater riches in the Ered Mithrin, and he left the Lonely Mountain with most of his people, carrying the Arkenstone away north with him. The mountain then stood empty for more than three hundred years, until his descendant Thrór came back and claimed it again. Thorin's own son Glóin ruled after him. Six generations later, Thorin Oakenshield took his name.
