Stone of the Hapless

Above Cabed Naeramarth, on the banks of the river Taeglin in the forest of Brethil, a great grey stone stands on a mound. Talbor is one name for it. Those who raised it cut runes of Doriath into the face, and afterwards the people of that country lost their taste for living in that part of the wood. Later hands added a second line of writing lower down. A seer and harp-player of Brethil named Glirhuin made a song saying that this stone would never be defiled nor thrown down, not though the sea should come in over all the land, and the song turned out to be exact in every particular.
