Stone of Amon Sûl
The Stone of Amon Sul was the palantir of the tower on Weathertop, largest and most powerful of the northern Seeing Stones of the Dunedain, set there for speech between Arnor and Gondor.
Greatest and most powerful of the northern Seeing Stones was the Stone of Amon Sul, the palantir set in the tower upon Weathertop. Like the other stones that the Faithful brought out of Numenor, it was placed with care within the realms of the exiled Dunedain as a means of speech between the sundered kingdoms, and the Dunedain of the North set it on the southernmost hill of the Weather Hills. It was large, beyond the strength of one man to lift, and comparable in stature to the great Stone of Osgiliath.
