Silmarils
The Silmarils are three jewels made by Fëanor, holding the light of the Two Trees of Valinor and hallowed by Varda so no unclean hand could touch them.
Fëanor made three jewels and set into them the light of the Two Trees of Valinor, and nothing of the kind was made again, by him or by anybody. The Silmarils, or Silmarilli in Quenya, are counted the greatest work of the Elves. Varda hallowed them, so that no unclean thing could touch them and no hand without the right to them could hold them without being burned. They were coveted from the moment they existed. The fate of Arda was said to be woven about the three of them, and the wars that closed the First Age take their name from the jewels: the War of the Great Jewels, or the War of the Jewels.
