The Sea of Núrnen is a large inland lake in south-east Mordor, about half the size of the Sea of Rhûn.
The Sea of Núrnen, also called Lake Núrnen, is a large inland body of water in the south-east of Mordor, roughly half the size of the Sea of Rhûn. Rivers running down out of the Ephel Dúath and the Ash Mountains feed it, and it lies between the volcanic plateau of Gorgoroth and the fertile plains of Núrn. Tolkien wrote of the dark, sad waters of Lake Núrnen, which were most likely drawn off to water the fields of Núrn.
