Scroll of Isildur
In Minas Tirith after the Last Alliance's victory, Isildur wrote a scroll recording the One Ring, its scorching heat, and a copy of its fading fiery writing, and left it among Gondor's records.
Isildur wrote a scroll concerning the One Ring shortly after the victory of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, while he stayed in Minas Tirith. In it he recorded the Ring as an heirloom of the North Kingdom, and set down what he had observed of the thing itself: that it was hot when first he took it, so that his hand was scorched, that its writing like red flame was already fading, and that he traced a copy of the letters lest they pass beyond recall. The scroll was left among the records of Gondor, against a day when the memory of such matters might grow dim.
