Rohirrim

The people of Rohan, horsemen of the plains between the White Mountains and the Fangorn country, whose own name for their land is the Mark. They are tall and fair-haired and mostly blue-eyed, proud of their independence and jealous of their own speech and customs, and they farm rather than build, keeping to scattered villages instead of cities. Edoras, their one real town, sits on a hilltop. Horses run through everything they do. Their herds range over grassland wide enough to feed any number of them, and their mounts are known across Middle-earth for speed, endurance and courage, trained by their riders from foalhood.
