The silver ring Finrod Felagund gave to Barahir for saving his life in the Dagor Bragollach: two serpents with emerald eyes meeting beneath a crown of golden flowers, the badge of the house of Finarfin.
The Ring of Barahir is an heirloom of the line of the Dúnedain chieftains, held in safekeeping at Rivendell along with the broken sword Narsil, Elendil's star and the old sceptre of Annúminas. Each chieftain's son grows up fostered in that house. When the young Aragorn comes early to manhood, Elrond hands him the ring as a sign of the distant kinship between their houses.
