Radagast

Radagast the Brown is one of the five Wizards sent into Middle-earth to work against the will of Sauron. Before that errand he is Aiwendil, a Maia of Yavanna, and his place among the Five is her doing: when the Valar took counsel and Aulë named Curumo, Manwë named Olórin and Oromë named Alatar and Pallando, Yavanna asked that Aiwendil be taken along as well. In the order of the Wizards Saruman is chief and Gandalf comes next, and Radagast is reckoned below them in power and in wisdom. His care is for growing things and for beasts; he knows more of herbs and animals than any man living, speaks many of the tongues of birds, and counts the birds and beasts his friends. Gandalf calls him a master of shapes and of changing hues.
