Plain of Valinor
The Plain of Valinor is the great expanse west of the Pelóri that accounts for most of the land of Aman, more than two thousand miles from north to south.
West of the mountain wall of the Pelóri, the Plain of Valinor covers most of the land of Aman. It runs more than two thousand miles from north to south and better than four hundred from east to west, and upon it stand most of the lands and dwellings of the Valar. Valmar, greatest of its cities, sits in the east-central region, with Yavanna's Pastures and Oromë's Woods to the south of it. Farther west lie the Gardens of Lórien, the Great Court of Aulë, and the house of Nienna. Beneath the whole plain run the interconnecting tunnels of the Halls of Mandos. The Vanyar keep to the plain when they are not at the foot of Taniquetil, while the Ñoldor are content in Tirion in the pass of the Calacirya.
