Peregrin Took
Peregrin Took, called Pippin, is a young hobbit of the Shire in The Fellowship of the Ring, a cousin and close friend of Frodo Baggins, cheerful and curious, who insists on coming along when Frodo leaves Bag End.
Youngest of Frodo Baggins's close friends, Peregrin Took is a cheerful, inquisitive hobbit from one of the Shire's grandest families. Everyone calls him Pippin. As a Took he comes of a line with an odd reputation for adventurousness, and he lives up to it: when Frodo prepares to leave Bag End, Pippin is among the friends who help with the packing and then walk out of Hobbiton at his side. His youth shows in high spirits, endless questions, and a talent for saying the wrong thing at an interesting moment, but beneath the chatter he is stubbornly loyal. Pippin has no intention of being left behind by his older cousin, whatever the road holds, and his cheerfulness proves its own kind of courage in the first trials.
