Númenor
Númenor is the island kingdom of Men in the Great Sea, raised as a gift to the Edain after the Elder Days.
Out in the Great Sea, between Middle-earth and the Undying Lands, The Silmarillion sets an island shaped like a five-pointed star. Númenor is the realm given to the Edain, the Men who stood with the Elves in the wars of the Elder Days: a new land raised from the waves for them, where they are granted long life and peace. Guided over the water by the star of Eärendil, they found there the greatest kingdom Men have known, rich in ships, lore, and craft, its kings crowned beneath the holy mountain at its center. The Numenoreans grow into the mightiest mariners of any age, sailing all the seas of the world. In The Lord of the Rings their island lies far in the past, remembered as Westernesse, and the blood of Númenor runs thin but unforgotten among the Men of the West.
