Chief of the palantíri and the one stone that never came to Middle-earth.
The Master-stone was the chief of the palantíri, and the only one of them that never came to Middle-earth. Fëanor, the Ñoldorin prince, made it in Aman, at a time that was not recorded, and where it stood through the rest of the Years of the Trees is not told either. It enters the record only in the history of the Dúnedain, in the days when Elendil ruled the exile kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor, and by then it was kept in the Tower of Avallónë on Tol Eressëa, in the Undying Lands.
