The March of Maedhros was an Elven realm in East Beleriand, lying between Dorthonion and the Blue Mountains beside Maglor's Gap, a country of hills and open plain. Maedhros fortified it after he moved his brothers and their people east out of Hithlum, away from the feuds with their kinsmen, and he made his own seat on the hill of Himring. It stood as the north-eastern guard of Beleriand and took assault after assault out of Angband through the First Age.
