Lothlórien is the Golden Wood by the Silverlode, home of the Galadhrim, the Tree-people who dwell high in its mallorn trees.
Its trees keep their leaves through autumn and winter, turning them to gold, and drop them only when spring brings new green. In Gondor, Boromir has heard, few who go into that perilous land come out, and none of those unscathed, but Aragorn calls it fair and perilous, a danger only to evil. Strangers are seldom let into its heart, the Naith, where nothing that grows bears any blemish and Sam feels as if he is walking inside a song.
