Illuin

Illuin was one of the two great lamps the Valar raised to light the young world. After they had entered it and set the seas, the lands and the mountains in order, and put down the fires of Melkor, light was still wanting, and so Aulë forged the two lamps at Yavanna's prayer. Varda filled them with light and Manwë hallowed them, and the Valar set them upon high pillars, Illuin in the furthest north on the pillar of Helcar, Ormal in the deepest south on the pillar of Ringil. Where the two lights mingled, amid the Great Lake in the middle of Arda, lay the Isle of Almaren, and there the Valar dwelt. Melkor afterwards cast the pillars down and broke the lamps. Lands were broken and the seas rose in tumult, ruinous flame poured out over the earth and marred it, and the Valar left Middle-earth for Valinor. Where Illuin fell, the inland Sea of Helcar was made.
