Idril's sword
The sword Idril of Gondolin bore, of which Tolkien records almost nothing.
Idril of Gondolin, daughter of Turgon, carried a sword, and Tolkien says no more of it than that. Peter Jackson's films gave the blade a name, Hadhafang, and a line of descent that is entirely theirs: from Idril to her son Earendil, from him to Elrond, and from Elrond to his daughter Arwen. Weta Workshop built the prop after early modern cavalry sabres, the Cossack shashka among them, and the sickle-swords of the Bronze Age Near East, which is where the curve comes from. Viewers who read it as a katana have the wrong continent. It is a horseman's weapon, and its balance is meant for a rider's hand rather than for fighting on foot.
