The Icebay of Forochel lay in the far north of Middle-earth, above Eriador, with the Cape of Forochel closing its western side and leaving a narrow entrance from the south.
The Icebay of Forochel lay in the cold northern reaches of Middle-earth, north of Eriador and north-west of Forodwaith. The Cape of Forochel, a strip of land forming its western boundary, left only a narrow entrance from the south. Its waters froze over through the winters, and while the ice held no ship could pass. It was to this bay that Arvedui, last King of Arthedain, fled when Angmar destroyed his realm, and there the Lossoth who lived on the ice sheltered him.
