House of Isildur
One of the two royal lines of the Dunedain in exile, the House of Isildur nearly ended at the Gladden Fields, yet through Valandil it gave Arnor its kings for three thousand years.
From Isildur, elder son of Elendil, descended one of the two great royal lines of the Dunedain in exile. The House of Isildur came near to failing at the very start of the Third Age, when Isildur and his three eldest sons were lost at the Disaster of the Gladden Fields; but his youngest son Valandil, left in Rivendell for his youth, survived, and from him sprang the Kings of Arnor. Through fair years and ruinous ones the line endured for more than three thousand years.
