Harondor

South of Ithilien, between the rivers Poros and Harnen, lies the country the Gondorians call Harondor, or South Gondor. It is a borderland in the plainest sense, held by nobody for long and claimed by everyone within reach of it. The land runs dry and open with scattered woodland across it, mild in winter and hard in summer, bounded by the mouths of Anduin to the north and by the Harnen in the south. Gondor took it in at the height of its reach and counted it a province. What the maps in Minas Tirith show and what holds true on the ground have rarely matched here, and the country south of the Poros has spent most of its recorded life as a march rather than a realm.
