Half-trolls were a people of Men who took service under Mordor, mustering for war beside Easterlings carrying axes, Southrons in scarlet and the Variags of Khand. Very little else about them was set down. The name surfaces again outside Tolkien's books in The Hunt for Gollum, a non-canonical and non-profit fan film, whose orc chieftain Goblok was described as a half-troll by the cast member who played the part.
