Hador held the stewardship of Gondor for a hundred and seventeen years from the year 2278 of the Third Age, seventh of the Ruling Stewards.
Hador was the seventh Ruling Steward of Gondor. He took the office when his father died in 2278 and held it a hundred and seventeen years, all of it inside the long quiet that the chroniclers call the Watchful Peace. On the three hundredth anniversary of the Steward's Reckoning he altered the calendar Mardil Voronwë had made, adding a day to bring it nearer to true. He died in 2395, and his son Barahir followed him.
