Gríma
Gríma is the chief counsellor at the court of King Théoden of Rohan in The Two Towers, a pale, clever-tongued man whose advice sways the aging king.
At the foot of the throne in the Golden Hall of Edoras, The Two Towers seats a counsellor rather than a warrior. Gríma son of Gálmód is the chief adviser of King Théoden of Rohan, a pale, heavy-lidded man with a clever tongue, whose whispered counsel has come to steer the aging king in all things. In a court that prizes horses, songs, and open valor, he is a creature of shadows and careful words, and his rise puzzles and angers the king's own kin. The Riders of the Mark give him small love and a plain nickname, Wormtongue, though none says it in the king's hearing. As dangers gather on Rohan's borders his voice urges caution, delay, and suspicion of strangers, and guests at Meduseld quickly learn that reaching the king means passing through Gríma first.
