The long east-west range north of Dale.
The long range running east and west across the north of Middle-earth, with Dale below it to the south. At its western end, across a gap, stands Mount Gundabad and the head of the Misty Mountains. Halfway along its length the range splits in two, and the valley that opens between the halves is the Withered Heath. From end to end it runs some three hundred and fifty Numenorean miles.
