Grey Mountains (north)

The Ered Mithrin, a long range running east and west across the north of Middle-earth, with Rhovanion and Dale below it to the south and the cold country of Forodwaith above it to the north. At its western end, across a gap, stands Mount Gundabad and the head of the Misty Mountains. Halfway along its length the range splits in two, and the valley that opens between the halves is the Withered Heath. From end to end it runs some three hundred and fifty Numenorean miles. The Forest River and the Greylin both rise at its western end.
