Glorfindel

Glorfindel is a Noldorin Elf of Eldamar, born during the Noontide of Valinor and descended from a house of princes. The Silmarillion counts him among the mightiest of the Elves. He follows the House of Fingolfin out of Aman in the Flight of the Noldor and takes no part in the Kinslaying at Alqualondë. In Middle-earth he is lord of the house of the Golden Flower in the hidden city of Gondolin, where his people love him well, and Turgon names him one of the escorts appointed to the king's sister Aredhel when she asks leave to ride out. He is golden-haired, of great bodily strength and endurance, and he carries a sword and a dirk forged in Gondolin. In The Fellowship of the Ring an Elf-lord of that name is of Elrond's household at Rivendell.
