Gerontius Took
Twenty-sixth Shire-thain and a friend of Gandalf, Gerontius the Old Took raised twelve children from whom many notable hobbits descended, and lived to the great age of 130 years.
The Old Took, Gerontius by name, held the office of Shire-thain, twenty-sixth in the line, for seventy-two years. He was a friend of Gandalf, who was said to have given him a pair of magic diamond studs that fastened themselves and never came undone till ordered, and his great-uncle was the renowned Bandobras Bullroarer Took. He lived to the age of 130, and with his wife Adamanta Chubb raised twelve children, from whom descended many of the most notable hobbits of later days, his daughter Belladonna's son Bilbo Baggins among them.
