Gerontius Took
Twenty-sixth Shire-thain and a friend of Gandalf, Gerontius the Old Took raised twelve children from whom many notable hobbits descended, and lived to the great age of 130 years.
Gerontius Took, known as the Old Took, is remembered as head of the hobbits living across The Water, and other families like to say the Tooks must have a fairy wife somewhere far back in their line. Belladonna, one of his three remarkable daughters, is the mother of Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo remembers Gandalf's splendid fireworks at the Old Took's Midsummer's Eve parties, and knows the wizard as the giver of diamond studs that fasten on their own.
