Farin was a Dwarf of Durin's Folk, son of Borin and father of Fundin and Gróin.
Farin was a Dwarf of Durin's Folk, the son of Borin and the father of Fundin and Gróin. He lived in the Lonely Mountain, though he was most likely born in the Ered Mithrin. When the dragon came down upon the mountain, Farin fled with Thráin II to Dunland and lived out the rest of his years there. He was too old to take any part in the War of the Dwarves and Orcs, which ran from 2790 to 2799 of the Third Age, and he died in 2803.
