Eregion

Eregion is an Elven realm of the Second Age, lying against the western feet of the Misty Mountains near the West-gate of Khazad-dûm. Its people are Noldor and its craftsmen the finest smiths of their age. Alone among Elven kingdoms it keeps warm dealings with the Dwarves under the mountain, and goods pass freely between the two. Its chief city is Ost-in-Edhil. The same country is known under another name, Hollin: a green and quiet land, empty of its people, where holly trees and scattered stones are all that mark where the Elves once built.
