Éowyn
Éowyn is a shieldmaiden of Rohan in The Two Towers, sister of Éomer and niece of King Théoden, orphaned young and raised in his household.
Éowyn is a noblewoman of Rohan, and travellers come to Meduseld, the golden hall of Edoras. She is the daughter of Éomund and Théodwyn, younger sister of Éomer, and niece of King Théoden; orphaned as a child, she was taken into the king's household and raised there alongside her brother. For years she has kept to the hall, attending an uncle whose strength is failing under the counsel of Gríma Wormtongue, and the confinement chafes at her. Those who know her call her fearless, and the doorward Háma names her the one the people love and will follow. When Théoden rides out, he charges her with leading the folk of Edoras to shelter in the mountains.
