Éomer is the Third Marshal of the Riddermark, a Rider of Rohan taller than the rest of his company, with a white horsetail flowing from the crest of his helm.
Éomer son of Éomund owes service to no one but Théoden King, the Lord of the Mark, and leads an éored of horsemen armed with spears and bows across the grasslands of his land. He has clear, bright, proud eyes, and he holds that his people never lie, which makes them hard to deceive. To unbidden strangers he is wary and hard, as all his folk are in these days of doubt.
