Elwing is one of the Half-elven, the daughter of Dior the Fair and his wife Nimloth. She is the youngest of their three children and their only girl, with two older brothers, the twins Eluréd and Elurín. She is born in a house beside the waterfall of Lanthir Lamath, and the family lives there until her father is called away to Doriath to take up his inheritance.
