Eldacar of Gondor

Eldacar, born Vinitharya, was the twenty-first King of Gondor, a son of Valacar and of the northwoman Vidumavi. He was born in Rhovanion while his father served as ambassador to the king of that country, and he was a grandson of the prince Vidugavia. His father brought him south to Gondor in the year 1260 of the Third Age at the order of the Regent Minalcar. When Eldacar took the throne in 1432 the Kin-strife broke out, for Gondor's nobility would not have a king of only half Dúnedain blood. Castamir the Usurper besieged him in Osgiliath and drove him into exile in Rhovanion, where he gathered support among the Northmen and the northern Dúnedain. In 1447 he marched south again with an army out of Rhovanion and beat Castamir at the Crossings of Erui. He reigned until 1490, and his second son Aldamir followed him.
